I had to get up early in order to go to LAX and get Itazan Raoh and Mester. Their flight got in at 9 am but with customs and whatnot they would probably not be out until 10 am or so. I left Disneyland at 9:15 and made it to LAX by 9:50-ish.
On the way I got a call from Itazan straight from customs asking where our hotel was. In truth I did not know the exact address but with a little sweet talk to the lady at the other end of the line she let them into our fine country with little problem.
Being that we could not check into our hotel for a few hours we headed over to Disneyland to eat lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe with Bear Crusher and Kurita. The pure size of portions freaked the shit out of everyone myself included. An all too frequent observation came to mind: "THIS is why Americans are so fat."
After eating I got a call from Cappo (PA) who had just arrived in LA. He didn't have much to do so I told him to head over to AledKd's room at the Shilo. Some short time later I went there myself with Itazan Raoh and Mester. We got in about an hour or so of casual play and decided to go ahead and check into our hotel some 15 miles away. A few hours later we headed over to the tournament to take care of our registration which turned out to be quite a bit of a pain in the ass as there was a nearly 3-hour wait (!!!!!) to sign up. The reason for this remains a mystery.
Registration completed we played some friendly matches in another room at the tournament site. For some completely retarded reason I along with Phoenixdth VFAkira (AK) Cappo (PA) Mester and Raoh went to In n Out and bought food for (yes) 16 people. It took forever and we were completely overwhelmed with food.
Back at the site we played some more games made some friends and just basically had a good time. We didn't get back to our hotel until much later and when we did Itazan and I played some games with adamYUKI☆ (JE) MaddyStyle (AK) Konjou Akira (AK) and Shou. I had never met most of these guys and probably spent a good hour discussing US politics with adamYUKI☆ before heading off to bed around 5 am.
Some two hours later I got a phone call from Bear Crusher (PA) saying that she and Kurita (VA) had made it in and wanted to hang out eventually. I also wanted to see them as they were one of the main reasons I came to Evo this year. Before going to see them though I called up AlexKd (KA) only to find that his luggage had been lost in the airplane because there was somebody else with his exact name (!) and they couldn't distinguish whose baggage was whose. I went to pick him up and we played some games and then headed to Frisco's a restaurant produced to give you the biggest boner for the longest period of time possible with no foreseeable reprieve except to sit there and fucking jerk your little seed out of it to calm him down for a few minutes. Seriously.
From there I headed out to Disneyland to see Bear Crusher and Kurita. I probably got there at about 8 or 9 pm and we chatted until about 11 pm or so before heading to In n Out to get them some food and then go over to Thalis's (AK) house to play some mad VF.
The house session was lots of fun and in addition to the people at the previous night's gathering there was Stomp (SH) Siyko (SH) Shang (JA) Ken (BR) Katherine (LE) Jerky (JA) and my two friends and pseudo guests of honor Kurita and Bear Crusher. We played well into the night and I drove back to Disneyland at about 3 am. In a very welcome act of hospitality they let me stay in their room so that I could get up in time to pick up three more guests the following morning.
LPCをとりに行って、In n Outっていうファストフードのチェーン店で飯を食ってからハウスパーティへ。去年Evoで知り合った人が多くて、久しぶりに会えて楽しかった。新しい人も沢山でびっくり。メンバーが、バーチャファイタードットコムの管理人であるマイク(KA)、SillyWillly (AO) Andy (PA) Goatcheeseblues (SA)、と後名前の覚えてない人５、６人くらい。朝４時半までやりまくって、６時半にLPCを家まで送って、高校の頃の友達また一人と朝食を。朝１１時くらい、ハリウッド在住の友達と会えずに、２８時間も寝れずにPheonixdthんちに戻った。ドアは鍵がかかったし、ノックしても誰も来てくれなくて、裏庭の方から入るしかなかった。困ったことに石塀に囲まれた。大ピンチ。すげー格好いいことに、石塀を跳躍して、クレジットカードを使って裏庭のドアの鍵を開けた。俺は素晴らしい。見てくれる人がいなくて残念。
I had to wake up very early to get to my flight on time. Shou (SA) took me to the San Jose airport at 8 am and my flight left at about noon. After getting off the plane I picked up my rental car and headed to West Hollywood where a good friend from high school lives.
I had arranged before doing anything else to go out with a couple of friends of mine the beautiful sisters Hae Jun and Hae Ran. We checked out Rodeo (Fake Tit Capital) and then went to see Bourne Supremacy which turned out better than I'd anticipated. After they dropped me off at home I called LPC (WO) and Pheonixdth (LE) and headed over Phoenixdth's place to play some VF.
I picked up LPC and we got some In n Out before heading to the gathering. It was awesome to meet up with some people I hadn't seen in a year and to meet some new Western VF players. In attendance were from what I can remember: VFDC kingpin Myke (KA) SillyWilly (AO) Andy (PA) Goatcheeseblues (SA) that Lion player who beat me in Japan and beat me again today ( >o< ) his blaze-friendly Goh-playing boy and some others that memory cannot recall right now.
The games didn't really die down till about 4:30 am and I didn't take LPC home until about 6:30 am. From there I did a shit-ton of driving headed out to have breakfast with a friend of mine from high school and drove back to Pomona at about 11 am. Phoenixdth's house was locked so I had to jump his fence and sneak through the backdoor MGS style. Titties.
Dave I just wanted to say thanks a lot for bring the japanese players to EVO. I had a blast meeting them. Itazan is the fucking man. You tell him that. I definitely have to meet him again.
Thank you Kurita for an awesome match. Bearcrusher I am sorry I didn't get the chance to talk to you. You seems like a very fun person. Hopefully there will be a next time. Mester - hahahahaha I heard that all you do is sleep. Cappo told me that everytime you got in the car you fell asleep. Hahahaha! I should have challenge you to a game of THIRD STRIKE. But with all the VF'ers around I completely forgot that I could play that game. Next time punk!
Well Dave hopefully Sega will be good to us Americans and bless us with a console version of FT. Without it for next year I am scared to say VF at Evo2K5 will not be. Let's keep our fingers crossed. If we do get a console port I hope you Kurita and Itazan will encourage many more Japanese players to attend. Take care!
